| Shutdown XP Faster
When a user shuts down Windows XP, first the system has to kill all services currently running. Every once in a while the service does not shut down instantly and windows gives it a change to shut down on its own before it kills it. This amount of time that windows waits is stored in the system registry. If you modify this setting, then windows will kill the service earlier. To modify the setting, follow the directions below:
Start Regedit. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control. Click on the "Control" Folder. Select "WaitToKillServiceTimeout" Right click on it and select Modify. Set it a value lower than 2000 (Mine is set to 200).

| well your the one on the mac hacking with cmd. I don't know how to do this on mac, but simply go into your processes and kill the ones holding you up. I do it before I game, so I can belt out fps + reduce system lag (not that I get any anyway LOL)
Also, if you know c++ or the likes, and you know common processes, go google some code and play with it to kill your processes on shutdown?

| The only change is that it kills programs. Some programs use time to save files and folders... Instead of let it save those files, you force Windows to shut down. It shouldn't make a big deal | |

I've seen mine and it says 20000 If you don't trust this method, then just hold down your power button; it does the same thing. Standard setting is 3-5s iirc... Why would you really need this? Don't you just hit shut down and walk away?
